Jenkinson Lake

Saddle Up

Equestrian

Horse-friendly trails winding through forest and around the lake.

Horseback riding is a long-loved tradition at Sly Park. Equestrians can explore miles of trail that wind through the pine forest and connect to the shoreline loop around Jenkinson Lake, with grades gentle enough for a relaxed ride and views that open up over the water.

The loop around the lake is about 8.5 miles of horse-friendly trail. Riders share it with hikers and cyclists, and traffic runs both directions, so a courteous walk-pace keeps the experience great for everyone. Some stretches border private property and campsites — stay on designated routes.

Trail Etiquette

  • 8.5-mile loop of horse-friendly forest and shoreline trail
  • Multi-use, two-way trail — keep right and pass at a walk
  • Yield to hikers; respect private property and campsite boundaries
  • Pack out what you pack in and leave no trace
Plan ahead: confirm trailer parking and trail conditions with the Sly Park Recreation Area, especially in spring when some trails may be muddy or snow-covered.
